Find out about HS2's archaeology work in Birmingham

This year on Saturday 8 June we will be at the annual Birmingham City University's Inspired Family Day between 11 am - 4 pm.

You can find us at: The Parkside Building, City Centre Campus, Curzon Street, Birmingham, B4 7XG

Did you know that one of the biggest archaeological digs in the UK is taking place right here in Birmingham?

As part of the preparations for Phase One of HS2, an archaeological team from MOLA Headland is excavating the Park Street burial ground, close to the city centre. They’ve been discovering new information about life and death in Birmingham during the 19th century, and are thrilled to be at Birmingham City University's Inspired Family Day to share their findings with you.

While you’re here, children can also take part in a small replica archaeological dig, and learn more about the human body from our experts. Visitors will also be able to handle some of the artefacts found at Park Street.

You can also read about our work at Park Street on our archaeology blog .

If you'd like to talk to us about our works you can call our freephone helpdesk on 08081 434 434 .
