Permanent and temporary road closures in Birmingham city centre

Over the coming months, we’ll continue to work on roads in central Birmingham to help us plan our future utility diversions and prepare for the construction HS2’s Curzon Street Station and the railway.

Permanent closure of a section of Park St

In order to carry out these works safely, a section of Park Street will be closing permanently from Sunday 5 July. The closure will be in place from the junctions of Masshouse Lane and Bordesley Street (see our works notification here).

This section of Park St is a part of the footprint of the new HS2 Curzon St Station, and so from the 5th of July, it will become a part of the HS2 construction site and not be open to traffic or pedestrians. Destination signs will be altered to reflect the changes that should be followed when approaching the ring road.

Phased temporary road closure on Fazeley St

Further utility works are also required on Fazeley St from the 29th of June for up to eight weeks. To carry out the utility works safely, we need to manage traffic in the area. This will include a phased road closure on Fazeley Street (see our works notification here for more information). We’ll carry out the works in phases, rather than all at once, to keep disruption to a minimum.
