Upcoming event: Exploring Curzon Street – unearthing railway heritage and discovering local stories

Come along to our Heritage Open Day, Exploring Curzon Street – unearthing railway heritage and discovering local stories

From 11:00am on Saturday 8 September at Millennium Point in Birmingham City Centre, HS2 is hosting an afternoon of talks and activities on themes around the history and heritage of the Curzon Street area including the original Curzon Street railway station and terminus building. The talks will also explore the archaeological burial investigations that will be taking place around Park Street.

The day is free to attend and open to any member of the public, we’ll have activities available for all ages, including a timed visit inside the Curzon Street terminus building. As well as, an open invitation to the local community to come and share their memories and stories about the area with us as part of an exciting oral history project.

The event is part of this year’s Heritage Days Festival , England’s biggest festival of heritage and culture.

There are also some updates about HS2’s archaeological sites around Birmingham. You can find out more about these works, as well as the Heritage Open Day, on our Archaeology page.
