Webinar to showcase HS2 job opportunities in the West Midlands

We will be hosting a virtual careers fair on Wednesday 24 February to showcase the jobs the UK's new high-speed railway project is creating across the West Midlands.

The event is being hosted by our community engagement team in a bid to ensure that local communities, who live near to the route of the new railway, are given every opportunity to benefit from upcoming skills and employment opportunities.

Last month we launched our new online jobs board which displays all the current opportunities to work on HS2, within its supply chain. The jobs board is updated daily and already shows a huge variety of vacancies in the local area from apprenticeships to communications and engineering roles.

During the webinar, our main works construction partner for the West Midlands, Balfour Beatty VINCI (BBV), will share details of upcoming opportunities that they will be recruiting and discuss the broad range of skills and expertise they are looking for. BBV expects to be one of the largest recruiters in the region over the next two years, forecasting that it will create around 7,000 jobs to deliver its section of the new high-speed rail network.

The webinar is aimed at local people who are looking for work or a change of career. Birmingham-based charity Suited for Success will also attend the event to provide guidance on the support available to those looking to get back in to work after an employment break. Delegates will hear about the breadth of opportunities being created, suitable for those interested in both site-based and office-based job opportunities.

The event will be held from 4-6pm on Wednesday 24th February and delegates are encouraged to register their attendance in advance.
